To get this benefit you need to first apply for the following benefit(s) if you're eligible:

If you are currently eligible for the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), you are now able to get the CCB Young Child Supplement. This supplement provides up to 4 tax-free payments in 2021 to families with children under the age of 6. You may be able to get up to $1,200 per child.

Each payment is $300 per child if your family net income is $120,000 or less, and is $150 per child if your family net income is more than $120,000. Your 2020 net income is used to determine your January and April payments, and your 2021 net income is used to determine your July and October payments.

To get this benefit, you must be entitled to get the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) and you must file your 2019 and 2020 income tax.

For example:

  • confirmation of SIN letter
  • plastic SIN card (non-expired)

You and your spouse or common-law partner must file your income tax and benefit returns to get these payments. Aside from filing your taxes, you do not need to apply for this benefit.
