To qualify for the Home Upgrades stream you must:
- live in the detached home, duplex or townhome that was built before 1998;
- have your name listed on the utility bill; and
- meet program income qualifications.
Eligibility for this program is based on the number of people living in the household and total household income. Please [click here] to review the house income threshold.
Please note that income verification is required to apply for the Home Upgrades stream.
To apply for the Home Upgrades Program, you will need to submit:
- Documentation to confirm your income meets the eligibility criteria.
- A copy of your utility bill with your name on it to confirm you are the primary utility holder.
- If you are a renter, you will also need to submit a copy of your lease agreement.
You can submit any of the following documents to confirm your income meets the eligibility criteria:
- Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) notice of assessment, CRA Proof of Income Statement, Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) letter
- Recipient of other social benefits offered to income-qualifying individuals such as, Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Alberta Works, Alberta Adult Health Benefit, Rent Assistance Program Acknowledgement letter, or Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP)
- Letter from a registered social worker confirming that you need this program
