Canada Disability Benefit

If you are a person with disability between the ages of 18-64 and living with low income, you may qualify for the Canada Disability Benefit. This monthly benefit supports working-age persons with disabilities who have been approved for the Disability Tax Credit. The maximum amount of the Canada Disability Benefit will be $200 per month, or $2,400 annually (from July to June).

You may qualify for this benefit if you:

  • live in Canada
  • are between the ages of 18-64
  • have been approved for the Disability Tax Credit
  • filed an income tax return for the previous tax year
  • are one of the following:
    • a Canadian citizen
    • a permanent resident
    • a protected person
    • a temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the past 18 months someone who is registered or entitled to be registered under the Indian Act

Social Insurance Number

For example:

  • confirmation of SIN letter
  • plastic SIN card (non-expired)

Notice of Assessment

A statement from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to each taxpayer, every year, after you have filed a tax return. It tells you the amount of income tax you owe, or the amount of the refund you will get.
