You can apply if you meet all the conditions below:
- you’re in Canada
- you were approved under CUAET(opens in a new tab)
- your temporary resident status document (IMM 1442) has a remark that you’re here under CUAET
- If it doesn’t, you need to apply and be approved to extend your stay as a worker, student or visitor from inside Canada under CUAET(opens in a new tab) before you apply for financial assistance.
- you have a Canadian bank account
Proof of legal status
A document showing citizenship or immigration status in Canada. For example:
- citizenship certificate
- confirmation document
- record of landing, confirmation of permanent residence;
- permanent resident card
- visitor record
- temporary resident permit
- study permit
- positive notice of decision
- verification of status document
- registration date with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada
- passport
- foreign passport
