Manitoba Prenatal Benefit

The Manitoba Prenatal Benefit provides you with a monthly cheque to help you buy healthy food that you need during pregnancy. This program also connects you with early prenatal care and referrals to Healthy Baby Community Support programs and resources.

You could get between $10.00 to $81.41 a month. If you are approved for the benefit, you can start to receive monthly cheques in your second trimester of pregnancy until the month your baby is due.

To get the Manitoba Prenatal Benefit:

  • You must be pregnant.
  • You must live in Manitoba.
  • You must have a net family income of less than $32,000 a year.

Health card

For example:

  • valid health card with no photo, name and address
  • valid health card with photo, name and address
  • MCP (Medical Care Plan) number
  • Valid ambulance/dental services card
  • Department of Immigration, Skills and Labour identification number
  • Department of Immigration, Skills and Labour file number (Income Support Card).

Fill out a Prenatal Benefit application form. This form can be downloaded or picked up at medical offices, community agencies and government offices or can be obtained from the Healthy Baby Prenatal Benefit Office.

You will need to provide a medical note from your health care provider, confirming your pregnancy and expected due date.
