The Community Aids for Independent Living Program supplies basic adaptive and mobility equipment at no cost to eligible residents who have a medical need. Eligible recipients cannot access the equipment through a Social Development health card, other government programs, private insurance, nor a private purchase.

This program is facilitated through Tango Medical. Requests are submitted through the online portal and fulfilled through one of the three regional offices (Moncton, Fredericton, Saint John).

Medical items are available for in-store pickup (quickest option) or can be delivered at no cost to the client. Some items are also eligible for install or setup by one of our qualified Tango Medical staff members.

This program is for New Brunswick residents over 18 years of age who have a medical need but no way to access equipment including through a Social Development health card, other government programs, private insurance, nor a private purchase.

There are three eligibility categories for this program:

  1. Community / ARF — lives in the community or an Adult Residential Facility, has a medical need, no SD health card, no other financial means.
  2. Nursing home — lives in a Nursing Home and needs a wheelchair, seating components, or a 4-wheeled walker; no SD health card; no other financial means.
  3. Hospital discharge — currently in hospital, has an SD health card, and needs short-term-use equipment to discharge home. Eligible equipment is limited (2-wheeled walkers, toilet safety rails, raised toilet seat, commode, shower stool / chair, tub transfer bench).

Applicants can apply in two ways:

  1. Register and apply via the The Tango Medical online portal

  2. Print a request form and submit it at one of the office locations noted below:

If you need to make amendments or changes to your request, contact the Tango Medical admin team and they can update it on your behalf, or cancel and resubmit if the change is large.
