Accessible Vehicle Funding

Easy application

Tax filing not required

You do not need to apply for this benefit, but you need to file your tax return to get it.

The government will use the information in your tax return to decide if you will get the benefit.

Accessible Vehicle Funding can help you get or adapt a personal vehicle for accessibility. Adapting a vehicle could include installation of hand controls or modifying vans to have lifts and ramps.

The Accessible Vehicle Funding program:

  • provides up to $25,000;
  • is income tested to determine applicants’ financial eligibility;
  • provides 100 % funding up to $25,000 to eligible applicants with annual net incomes of $46,500 or less;
  • provides partial funding for eligible applicants with annual net incomes between $46,500 and $64,000;
  • considers disability-related costs, not currently covered by another funding source, when determining financial eligibility. This means that even if your income is over $64,000, you may be able to get some funding due to your disability-related costs.

For information on what can be funded, view the Accessible Vehicle Funding Information Sheet (pdf).

Your application submitted is reviewed and processed in the order (date and time) in which it is received. Your application is reviewed based on the following criteria:

  • How much your situation meets the funding objective;
  • How much your situation meets the stated eligibility requirement; and
  • How much funding is currently available

Notice of Assessment

A statement from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to each taxpayer, every year, after you have filed a tax return. It tells you the amount of income tax you owe, or the amount of the refund you will get.
