The Student Assistance program provides loans and funding to individuals pursuing post-secondary education.

To qualify for Nova Scotia Student Financial Assistance for Full-Time Studies, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, Landed Immigrant (with proof for first-time applicants), or Protected Person.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
  • Be a resident of Nova Scotia (or any province for Part-Time Studies).
  • Be enrolled in a designated, full-time program leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
  • Maintain good standing on any previous student loans.
  • Meet academic requirements (pass 60% of a full course load, or 40% if you have a disability).
  • You must also qualify for Canada Student Loans and Grants to access Nova Scotia assistance.

Applications for full-time funding must be submitted online, using the current year's application within MyPATH. All Student Assistance information to you, including assessment of your calculated need, is posted inside your MyPATH account.
