You do not need to apply for this benefit, but you need to file your tax return to get it.

The government will use the information in your tax return to decide if you will get the benefit.

The Nunavut carbon credit is a non-taxable amount paid to individuals and families to help offset the cost of the federal carbon pollution pricing levy. This amount is combined with the quarterly payment of the federal GST/HST credit.

Notice of Assessment

A statement from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to each taxpayer, every year, after you have filed a tax return. It tells you the amount of income tax you owe, or the amount of the refund you will get.

You do not need to apply to get this payment. If you are eligible for the GST/HST credit, your territorial credit payment will be combined with your GST/HST credit payment.

If you use the direct deposit service for your GST/HST credit payments, the CRA will deposit your territorial payment into the same account.
