Senior Citizen Supplementary Benefit (SCSB).

To get this benefit you need to first apply for the following benefit(s) if you're eligible:

The Senior Citizen Supplementary Benefit (SCSB) is a monthly payment of $300 made to low-income seniors in Nunavut. The Income Assistance Program issues this benefit through the Federal Government, who adds the $300 to qualifying Old Age Security (OAS) cheques. This payment is available to anyone who qualifies for the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) or GIS Allowance.

To receive the Senior Citizen Supplementary Benefit (SCSB):

  • You must be 60 years of age or older and resident in Nunavut.
  • You must be receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) or GIS Allowance from the federal government.

To apply for this benefit:

  • Eligible seniors must complete their federal income tax returns and application forms for the Guaranteed Income Supplement and GIS Allowance each year.
