Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Own property in the City of Brantford
- Require Lead Service Line replacement work that meets the following criteria:
- contractors' labour;
- excavation;
- pipe materials and connection to the curb stop; and
- connecting the new service to your water meter
Ineligible work includes repaving a driveway, landscaping, sodding or any other costs that are unnecessary to replace the lead service line.
Proof of residency in Province/ Territory
For example:
- lease agreement
- rent receipt
- household bill
- gas
- electricity
- cable television
- telephone
- driver's license
- vehicle registration or car insurance
- membership in social or professional organization
- Other:
- bank information
- employment information
Proof of Expenses / cost estimates
For example:
Receipts, fuel, electricity or oil consumption bills, services and equipment estimates, medical expenses, student loans, property taxes, mortgage payments, all others.
Proof of housing situation
For example:
- letter from landlord about your housing situation
- eviction notice
- disconnection notice
- police report about an incident involving your housing
- moving company quote or invoice
- list of repairs needed in home
- list of expenses for renovations needed for independence in the home
- proof of home ownership (mortgage, property ownership)
To apply for the Lead Financial Incentive program, applicants must complete and submit an online application.

Grant only applicants will receive a Commitment Letter from the city after approval.
Grant and loan applicants will receive a Commitment Letter and Promissory Note after completion of the contracted work.
Property owners must schedule an inspection of the lead water service before and after your work. A lead test must be scheduled at least 72 hours before anything is replaced.
Applicants must call 519-759-4150 to schedule an inspection appointment. City of Brantford lead testing and inspection services are available at no charge for all properties in Brantford. This service is available Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (excluding holidays).
