To get this benefit you need to first apply for the following benefit(s) if you're eligible:

The Ontario Child Benefit gives low-income to moderate-income families up to $1,509 per child per year to help with the cost of raising children. You can receive this benefit if you are working or if you are not working.

The Ontario Child Benefit provides up to $1,509 per child per year depending on:

  • Your family net income.
  • The number of children in your care who are under 18 years old.

Payments are delivered with the Canada Child Benefit in a single monthly payment.

To receive this benefit, you must apply for and receive the Canada Child Benefit.

You must file your taxes to qualify for the Canada Child Benefit and the Ontario Child Benefit.

To apply and receive the benefit you must apply for the Canada Child Benefit. When you apply for the Canada Child Benefit you are automatically assessed for the Ontario Child Benefit.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administers the Ontario Child Benefit on behalf of the Ontario government.
