Ontario Child Care Fee Subsidy

Easy application

Tax filing required

The Ontario Child Care Fee Subsidy helps families cover the cost of child care for children under 13 years of age. This subsidy is also available to children with special needs who are under 18 years of age.

There is no maximum income for a family to qualify for a child care fee subsidy in Ontario. The parental contribution towards the cost of child care for a family receiving fee subsidy is zero if family income is under $20,000; otherwise it is 10 per cent of income over $20,000 and an additional 20 per cent for incomes over $40,000.

You can apply if your child is under 13 years old (or up to 18 years old if your child has special needs and meets other criteria) and in either:

  • A licensed child care program (centre-based, home-based or in-home services).
  • A child enrolled in a “children's recreation program”.
  • A camp.
  • A before- and after-school program operated directly by a school board.
