Private Sanitary Sewer Lateral Replacement Program

The Private Sanitary Sewer Lateral Replacement program provides Brantford property owners with a grant of up to $2000 to offset the costs of replacing old sanitary sewer laterals on a private property.

This replacement helps to stop or reduce sewer blockages. The grant amount will be equal to 50 per cent of the cost of the work or $2000 maximum, whichever is the lesser amount.

Upon approval and after replacement of the sewer lateral, a payment totalling 50 per cent of the paid eligible invoice amount (to a maximum of $2,000) will be made by direct deposit.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Own property in the City of Brantford
  2. Have paid all property taxes when applying for the grant
  3. Have an existing sanitary sewer lateral

Please note that grant approvals are subject to funding availability on a first-come first-served basis. Grant approvals will only be valid for six months from the approval date and will expire if:

• Work is not completed
• We do not receive confirmation of payment for work completed
• Sanitary sewer lateral replacement or relining inspections are not satisfactory
• Other forms are incomplete

Proof of Expenses / cost estimates

For example:

Receipts, fuel, electricity or oil consumption bills, services and equipment estimates, medical expenses, student loans, property taxes, mortgage payments, all others.

To apply for the Private Sanitary Sewer Lateral Replacement program, applicants must complete and submit an online application.

Applicants must also include itemized quotes from licensed contractors in the City of Brantford.
