Saskatchewan Employment Incentive

Easy application

Need you to file taxes and apply separately

The Saskatchewan Employment Incentive (SEI) provides working families who have low incomes with a monthly financial benefit, Supplementary Health Benefits, access to discounted bus passes (where available), connections to employment supports through the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training and access to the Saskatchewan Housing Benefit through the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation.

The amount of the incentive is based on:

  • Your family income; and
  • The number of eligible children in your family.

The maximum family income for SEI is based on the number of eligible children you have. View the SEI Rate Sheet Examples to learn more about how the SEI benefit amount is determined.

You may be eligible for SEI if all of the following apply to you:

  • You are a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident;
  • You are living in Saskatchewan;
  • You are 18 years or older;
  • You have a valid Social Insurance Number and Saskatchewan Health Services Number;
  • You do not receive Saskatchewan Income Support (SIS), Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disability (SAID) benefits, Saskatchewan Employment Supplement (SES) or Child Care Subsidy (CCS);
  • You have children ages 0-12 and/or children ages 13-17 who require childcare due to special circumstances, and receive the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) for those children or are a Person of Sufficient Interest (PSI) and have those children in your care; and
  • You have a minimum of $500 per month before deductions from employment and/or self-employment and a family income that is less than the monthly maximum listed on the SEI website.

To continue receiving SEI, you must report your family income monthly and inform Social Services of any change in your circumstances (e.g., change of address, the addition of a child or other family circumstances).

[Once your application is submitted] (https://www.saskatchewan.ca/residents/family-and-social-support/financial-help/saskatchewan-employment-incentive-sei#further-information), you will receive notifications by email or text regarding the status of your application and confirmation of your eligibility. To receive these notifications, you will need to ensure you have turned on alerts for your Saskatchewan Account.
