Yukon Seniors Income Supplement

Monthly income increase for low-income seniors.

If you are a low-income senior, the Yukon Seniors Income Supplement (YSIS) increases your monthly income by $10 to $253.25.

The Government of Canada calculates your monthly Yukon Seniors Income Supplement based on your Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) amount. Your GIS is calculated based on your income as declared in your tax return from the previous year. The federal government sends the names and addresses of Yukoners who should receive this supplement to the Government of Yukon.

You will get the Yukon Seniors Income Supplement (YSIS) if

  • You are a Yukon resident.
  • You are 65 years of age or older.
  • You are receiving Old Age Security (OAS).
  • You are receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS).
  • You are receiving the Spouse’s Allowance or the Survivor’s Allowance.
  • You are receiving the GIS in Yukon.

You must apply for OAS and GIS before being eligible for the Yukon Seniors Income Supplement.

You will receive the Yukon Seniors Income Supplement if you already receive OAS or GIS from the federal government.

To get Old Age Security:

  • You must be 65 years of age or older.
  • You must meet Canadian legal status and residency requirements.

You can also receive OAS if you're a spouse between 60 and 64 and receive the Spouse's Allowance or the Survivor's Allowance.

To get the Guaranteed Income Supplement:

  • You are 65 years of age or older.
  • You are receiving OAS.
  • You have a low income.
  • You live in Canada.
