Low Income Adult/Youth Monthly Pass

The Low-Income Adult and Youth Transit Passes provide eligible youth and adults in Calgary with access to a discounted monthly transit pass.

This program uses a sliding scale system, the low income monthly pass is reduced based on family or individual income depending on household situation. The less an applicant earns, the less they will need to pay.

There are three rate bands, 2026 rates are as follows:

  • Band A $6.30 per month
  • Band B $44.10 per month
  • Band C $63.00 per month

To qualify for the program you must:

  1. Live in Calgary, Alberta
  2. Show proof of lower income by providing one of the following:

A) Canada Revenue Notice of Assessment

B) Income documents from one of the following sources:

  • Assured Income for Severely Handicapped benefits (AISH)
  • Alberta Works: Income Support
  • Foundational Learning Assistance (formerly Alberta Works Learners)
  • Alberta Works - Alberta Health Benefit
  • Resettlement Assistance Program

C) If you do not have any of the above options, you may use one of the following:

  • Letter from Registered Social Worker
  • Letter for Independent Youth

Please note that if you are using CRA Notice of Assessment, you will need to provide an income proof for each family member related by blood, marriage, adoption or common-law who is 18 years or older living at the same Calgary address.

Documents listed in this section are examples of what can be included with your application. Please review the application instructions (How to Apply tab) to confirm the supplemental and required documents for this benefit.

You need to provide documents before applying to a Fair Entry program. This is the information required when submitting your application:

Residency Documents- You can provide ONE of the following documents to prove you live in Calgary:

  • A copy of your Alberta Driver's License or Alberta Government Identification Card
  • Utility, telephone or cable bill dated within the last 30 days.
  • Any government document with your name and current address dated within the last 30 days.
  • Signed lease agreements.

Income Documents - Any ONE of the following income proofs are the best way to apply:

  • Assured Income for Severely Handicapped benefits (AISH)
  • Alberta Works: Income Support
  • Foundational Learning Assistance (formerly Alberta Works Learners)
  • Alberta Works - Alberta Health Benefit
  • Resettlement Assistance Program

Or you can also provide the following:

  • Canada Revenue Notice of Assessment

If you do not have any of the above options, you may use one of the following:

  • Letter from a Registered Social Worker

Note: If you are using the Canada Revenue Notice of Assessment or applying for any of the following programs below, you will need to provide an income proof for EACH family member related by blood, marriage, adoption or common-law who is 18 years or older living at the same Calgary address.

In order to access the Low Income Adult/Youth Monthly Transit Pass, applicants must be approved by the Fair Entry program.

You can apply for the Fair Entry program in four ways:

  2. In Person at the following locations Municipal Building, Village Square Library and Shawnessy Location

  3. Mail to: Fair Entry #8064 P.O. Box 2100 Station M, Calgary, AB, T2P 2M5
