Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program

The Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program (CGHAP) provides no-costs retrofits to homeowners and tenants with low-to-median-income in participating Canadian provinces and territories. Retrofits include but are not limited to insulation heat pumps and more.

This new program will be rolled out across Canadian provinces and territories. The program uses a direct install approach, all services and retrofits are delivered at no cost to the homeowner and the tenant.

To participate in the CGHAP you must:

  • reside and be a homeowner or tenant in a participating province or territory
  • have an income level that meets the provincial or territorial threshold

Proof of  residency in Province/ Territory

For example:

  • lease agreement
  • rent receipt
  • household bill
    • gas
    • electricity
    • cable television
    • telephone
  • driver's license
  • vehicle registration or car insurance
  • membership in social or professional organization
  • Other:
    • bank information
    • employment information

Proof of income

For example:

Pay stubs, pension statements (Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security), rental property income, income tax returns, income tax notice of assessment, business/rental/farming income, disability or veterans affairs pension, child and spousal support payments, GST credit.

Application processes differ by participating province and territory. Households seeking to apply for CGHAP-funded retrofits must submit applications to the relevant program in their province or territory. The Government of Canada is not accepting applications from households to participate in the program.
