Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit

The Newfoundland and Labrador Disability benefit (NLDB) provides a monthly payment of up to $400 per month to people with disabilities between the ages of 18-64 who qualify and receive the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).

To receive this benefit eligible individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • ages 18-64
  • file their annual income tax
  • reside in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • have a valid certificate for the Disability Tax Credit
  • meet the allowable income threshold

  • rent receipt
  • household bill
    • gas
    • electricity
    • cable television
    • telephone
  • driver's license
  • vehicle registration or car insurance
  • membership in social or professional organization
  • Other:
    • bank information
    • employment information

Proof of Disability Tax Credit

Proof of income

For example:

Pay stubs, pension statements (Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security), rental property income, income tax returns, income tax notice of assessment, business/rental/farming income, disability or veterans affairs pension, child and spousal support payments, GST credit.

There is no application required for this monthly benefit. To receive this benefit qualifying persons must file their income tax, have a valid DTC certificate, be a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador, and meet the above noted age and income criteria.
