Waterloo Region Energy Assistance Program

Easy application

Need you to file taxes and apply separately

Heat and hydro are the second biggest expenses for a household after rent. If you are behind on utility bills or need ongoing financial assistance to make hydro affordable you may be eligible for the one-time grant through the Waterloo Region Energy Assistance Program (WREAP).

You may be eligible for WREAP if you receive social assistance or live on a low income. Your household income (after tax) must be:

  • Less than $38,000
  • $38,001 to $54,000 if three or more people live in the household
  • $54,001 to $65,000 if five or more people live in the household
  • $65,001 TO $71,000 if seven or more people live in the household

Before applying for WREAP, you will need to talk to your utility provider about a payment plan for your bill.
