Alberta Energy Rebate

The Alberta Energy Rebate provides eligible Albertans with a one-time $100 rebate payment to relieve the cost of fuel, groceries, utilities and other household needs.

To be eligible for the Alberta Energy Rebate, applicants must:

  • Be 18 or older.
  • Be an Alberta resident with a verified alberta.ca account.
  • Have filed a 2025 tax return.
  • Have a household income of $225,000 or less.

Please note that a household is defined as a single individual or two individuals who are married or in a common-law relationship.

Albertans 18 and over living at the same address, but who are not married or common law, would be considered separate households. This includes:

  • roommates
  • children over the age of 18
  • other adult family members living in the same home
  • Each adult will need to apply separately to receive a payment.

Social Insurance Number

For example:

  • confirmation of SIN letter
  • plastic SIN card (non-expired)

Notice of Assessment

A statement from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to each taxpayer, every year, after you have filed a tax return. It tells you the amount of income tax you owe, or the amount of the refund you will get.

Proof of  residency in Province/ Territory

For example:

  • lease agreement
  • rent receipt
  • household bill
    • gas
    • electricity
    • cable television
    • telephone
  • driver's license
  • vehicle registration or car insurance
  • membership in social or professional organization
  • Other:
    • bank information
    • employment information

To apply:

Step 1: Log into your verified Alberta.ca account. If you don’t have an account, you can sign up directly on Alberta.ca.

Step 2: Verify your information. Applicants need to ensure their mailing address on your Alberta driver's licence or identification card matches the information in their Alberta.ca account.

Step 3: Register through the online portal at https://energyrebate.alberta.ca Applicants need to provide the Social Insurance Number, date of birth, legal given name(s), and legal last name of your spouse or common-law partner as reported on your 2025 income tax return (if applicable)

Step 4: Set up your payment method Payments will be sent electronically to your bank account by either direct deposit or Interac e-transfer.

Step 5: Save and submit your application Applicants can pause and return to your application at any time. Progress is saved automatically. Once submitted, changes can not be made. Please allow up to 14 days for review after submission.

Albertans receiving the Alberta Seniors Benefit, Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) and Income Support as of July 1 will be automatically enrolled to receive their rebate.

Albertans must apply online and applications will be reviewed and validated to ensure eligibility criteria are met and payments are delivered appropriately.

Please note that applications will be accepted from July 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026.
