You may qualify for this benefit if you are eligible for:

The Property Tax Allowance provides eligible low-income propery owners with a tax reduction.

Applicants will need to apply for the Property Tax Allowance each year as income amounts sometimes change.

You may qualify for the Property Tax Allowance if you:

  • own your property in New Brunswick
  • use it as your principal residence
  • receive the Residential Property Tax Credit

If your total combined taxable income (including your spouse’s, if applicable) is:

  1. Less than $22,000, you are eligible for up to a $300 rebate.
  2. Between $22,001 and $25,000, you are eligible for up to a $200 rebate.
  3. Between $25,001 and $30,000, you are eligible for up to a $100 rebate.

During the application process, you may be asked to provide the following:

  • personal information for yourself and your spouse (if applicable), including your name, social insurance number (SIN), date of birth, and address
  • Property Assessment Number (PAN)
  • your household income
  • information from your tax return for the year before your application

You can request the Property Tax Allowance in 3 ways:

1. Apply online: Complete the Request for Property Tax Allowance online form.

2. Apply by mail: Print and complete the Application for Property Tax Allowance form. Mail your completed form to the SNB regional assessment office in your area. The address can be found at the bottom of the form.

3. Apply in person: Visit any Service New Brunswick office to complete the form. Customer Service Representatives can process your application during your visit.
