Supplementary Health Benefits

Individuals who qualify for the Supplementary Health Benefits are eligible for a number of health services and products in addition to the universal health benefits.

Services Covered include:

  • Medical Supplies and Appliances
  • Drugs
  • Hearing Services
  • Dental Services
  • Optical Services
  • Podiatry Services
  • Medical Transportation in Saskatchewan
  • Benefits Outside Saskatchewan
    • With prior approval from the Ministry of Social Services

Documents listed in this section are examples of what can be included with your application. Please review the application instructions (How to Apply tab) to confirm the supplemental and required documents for this benefit.

Health card

For example:

  • valid health card with no photo, name and address
  • valid health card with photo, name and address
  • MCP (Medical Care Plan) number
  • Valid ambulance/dental services card
  • Department of Immigration, Skills and Labour identification number
  • Department of Immigration, Skills and Labour file number (Income Support Card).

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health will send you a letter advising that you have been approved for Supplementary Health Benefits.

Always provide your valid Saskatchewan Health card or temporary health coverage form when you request a Supplementary Health service. Service providers will verify your coverage.

The program does not reimburse clients as payments are made directly to the service providers.
