If you are an Island student in grade 10, 11 or 12 and planning to attend any post-secondary institution, you may receive a Community Service Bursary in recognition of your volunteer work which will be credited to your post-secondary account. The maximum value of the bursary is $1,500.

The Down Payment Assistance Program (DPAP) is a pilot program to help residents of Prince Edward Island, who have modest incomes, in buying a first home. You can apply to get a conditionally interest free loan of up to five per cent of the purchase price of a home, to a maximum loan of $17,500.

The Family Health Benefit Drug Program may help cover the cost of approved prescription medications for you and your children if they are under the age of 19 or under the age of 25 and a full-time student.

The Family Housing Program provides quality rental housing units for Island families and individuals with low incomes, poor housing conditions or other special circumstances that create a need for assistance and who may not otherwise be able to obtain adequate housing. Most families will pay 25 percent of their income for rent.

If you are a graduate from Prince Edward Island who wishes to do your post-secondary education through a French-language program not currently offered in the province, you may be able to get a French-language post-secondary studies scholarship.

$1,500 for each of two years for Collegiate studies, Up to $8,000 for University studies.

The Generic Drug Program may help with your costs for generic prescription drugs up to $19.95. This program is for Islanders under the age of 65 who do not have insurance.

Island students enrolled full-time a post-secondary school can apply for financial help through both the federal and provincial student loan programs by filling out one application, the PEI Student Financial Assistance’s online application.

If you are a PEI student entering your first year at UPEI, Holland College, or Collège de l'Île, you may be able to get the George Coles Bursary and get anywhere between $3,200 and $12,800 in funding over the duration of your program (in conjunction with the George Coles Graduate Scholarship). You do not need to apply.

If you are a PEI resident attending either UPEI, Holland College or Collège de l'Île, you may be eligible for the Island Advantage: Low and Middle Income Needs-based Bursary (Bursary). When combined with the George Coles Bursary, and/or the Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students (CSG-FT), this can help you fully cover your tuition costs.

If you live in Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island or Saskatchewan and you file your taxes, you may be able to get this benefit to offset the cost of the government of Canada’s pollution pricing.
